I consulted to Council on re-positioning The Dandenong Markets. Project entitled Re-Growing the Markets. Involvement consisted of advising Council’s management with the strategy, the retail positioning, design, planning & development, leasing, marketing and infrastructure for the development.
Dear Aaron,
I thought I would update you on the project that you were so involved with, particularly as stage two is about to proceed to tender.
As you know, arising from your research , analysis and recommendations to Council , Council adopted a two part strategy to redevelop the Dandenong Produce Market.
Stage one which identified and attracted an ALDI supermarket as an anchor tenant was completed in November 2006. The Supermarket trades seven days per week and has fulfilled the attractor and anchor role.
Stage two which incorporates the new merchandise hall, new fresh food hall, refurbishing the fruit and vegetable area and a revised mix of tenancies is now at Tender Stage and Council expects to consider tenders in September. The delay in stage two is attributable to the vagaries of the Town Planning process and a change of Responsible Authority for that decision. The tendered concepts will be essentially those identified and adopted through your work as Principal of Malltown Monitors.
Regards and thankyou,
Mal.
